Photos: October in the Flower Garden
October has to be one of my favourite months of the year, so what a great time to start this blog! The dahlias, roses, penstemons and gladioli are still going strong, and there's a treasure trove of goodies to be foraged and gathered - berries, fruits, and seeds, not to mention abundance of colourful autumnal foliage - which all make for beautiful and interesting flower arrangements.
It's a busy month in the flower garden, and around the smallholding in general. Most of the annual beds have been cleared ready for replanting next year, early spring bulbs have been planted, and we've been doing lots of planning and designing our new borders ready to put into action for next year. The whole garden had been getting a bit of a spruce up too with much weeding, pruning, planting and digging up of tender plants ready to put somewhere warmer for the winter months. Thankfully the cats have been excellent garden assistants, as usual!
